Add power distribution
Rack PDUs mount horizontally (1U) or vertically (0U) and feed every device. Metered models show how much the rack draws.

Manage airflow and cooling
Blanking panels stop hot air circulating back to the front. Roof fans and cooling units help in closed or crowded cabinets.

Fit shelves, rails and cable management
Shelves hold non-rack equipment, rails carry heavy servers, and cable managers keep patching tidy and serviceable.

Terminate the cabling
Patch panels give every cable run a labelled port, so moves and changes are done at the front of the rack.

Rack questions
What does U mean?
U is the height unit for rack equipment. One U is 44.45 mm (1.75 inches), so a 42U cabinet has 42 of these units of mounting space.
How deep should my cabinet be?
Network switches and patch panels usually fit a 600 mm deep cabinet. Rack servers are much deeper, so server cabinets are commonly 1000 mm or more. Check the depth of your deepest device and allow room for cables at the back.
Wall-mount or floor-standing?
Wall-mount cabinets suit comms rooms and offices with a small amount of network equipment. Floor-standing cabinets carry heavier loads and more equipment, including servers and UPS systems.
